Spend a Hot Summer Day at the Water Playscape
You’ll have a wonderful time with the kids when you spend a hot summer day at the water playscape! If you haven’t noticed yet, this is the only area park that includes such a fun way to cool off and enjoy the water. From May through September, you can run through the fountaining streams until you get your fill of the cool spray. When you’re tired, simply take a break in the nearby shade until you catch your breath for another round.
There’s So Much to do on the Lake
While the playscape is fun, the lake is the main attractions of this park. You’ll be amazed that there’s so much to do on the lake! This isn’t a mere pond with big aspirations. The Brushy Creek Lake is a full 38 acres, more than a third of the total area of the entire park. If you like to fish, you’re in luck! The Texas Parks and Wildlife stocks this lake with game-fish on a regular basis, so there’s always something biting. Fishermen can try their luck from the pier or along the shoreline. Of course, if you forget your rod and reel, don’t think the lake has nothing to offer! Non-motorized boats are welcome, and the park even has a convenient launching area for kayaks and canoes. There’s no need to purchase your own boat or haul it down to the park; the park administration rents kayaks by the hour to Bushy Creek Lake Park patrons. The lake is also an important part of the area’s eco-system. If you’re short a kayak and a pole, you could easily spend the day watching the egrets and other wildlife along the shoreline of the lake at Brushy Creek Lake Park.
Lose Yourself on the Nature Trails
While it will be easy to lose yourself on the nature trails, it’ll be fun to find your way out of the labyrinth! The northern loop of the nature trail includes a little maze, or labyrinth, that never fails to amaze children of all ages. Although it’s easy to see your way out considering the stone walls are only inches high, the pattern can be challenging. See how long it takes to navigate your way from the entrance to the exit of this fun little circle enclosed within a shaded glen. Remember, no cheating! Just because you can step over these tiny walls, doesn’t mean you should. In addition to this segment of the nature trails, you’ll find miles and miles of more paths for hiking, jogging, or just a leisurely stroll!

Although the pavilions can be used on a first-come/first-served basis, they are also available for rent if you have a special occasion coming up.
